The big shot producers, major label record deals, videos for MTV, quarter of a million record sales in the United States alone, New Orleans survivors Lillian Axe have persevered through the years and still to this day, record new music and tour…
From humble beginnings, the New Orleans-based hard rock act rose above the cream of the bands touring the U.S. club circuit. Within three years, the band’s live show had built a reputation that could not be denied and was becoming legendary. While performing an opening stint with Ratt, Poison and Queensryche, the guys caught the eye of MCA Records executive Irving Azoff and also Marshall Berle (nephew of Milton Berle) who, at the time, was managing rock superstars, Ratt. Irving Azoff immediately signed Lillian Axe.
Fueled by their hit single, “True Believer” followed by their cover of the Badfinger classic, “No Matter What” and VH1 Classic favorite video for “Show A Little Love,”; Lillian Axe reached the upper 100 of the Billboard album charts and with True Believer hitting number 37 with a “bullet” on radio’s R&R charts. Lillian Axe was well on their way to finally becoming a well deserved success story. In 2010, Lillian Axe was introduced to multi-platinum producer, Sylvia Massy, and a creative working relationship was formed. Sylvia Massy is best known for her work with the band Tool (“Undertow went 2x platinum and “Opiate” went platinum). She also has gold and platinum records with Green Jelly, Powerman 5000, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Sylvia has also worked with Johnny Cash, Prince, Sevendust, The Deftones, and Seven Mary Three. The single, “47 Ways to Die”, was remixed by Sylvia Massy and was included in the film, The Hit List starring Cuba Gooding Jr. and featured during the opening credits.
Lillian Axe was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame on May 16, 2010. Lillian Axe is the first hard rock band inducted into the LAMHOF. Lillian Axe is enshrined along with music greats Fats Domino, Buddy Guy, Louis Armstrong, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard and Allen Toussaint to name a few.
In 2012, Lillian Axe had the honor of working again with Sylvia Massy on their eleventh release, XI: The Days Before Tomorrow. Platinum producer Sylvia Massy had this to say about the songs on XI:The Days before Tomorrow, “Damn! These guys know how to write! I love the new songs!”
2014, is going to be a banner year for Lillian Axe. Lillian Axe released a colossal 13 CD box set, entitled Convergence on February 1, 2014 containing all of Lillian Axe’s releases from 1988-2012 with a bonus CD of highly sought after unreleased Lillian Axe songs. Convergence was sold as a limited edition release through the Lillian Axe fan club and immediately sold out. On April 15, 2014, Lillian Axe unleashes their thirteenth release entitled, “One Night In The Temple”, a 2 CD (20 songs), DVD and Blu-Ray celebration featuring all their hits and fan favorite voted songs performed acoustically in an intimate setting housed in a Masonic Temple where Lillian Axe has recorded their last few albums. Filmed in high definition, the Blu-Ray and DVD will feature the acoustic live performance, fan question and answer session, videos for “Caged In” and “Death Comes Tomorrow,” live footage from their July 4, 2013 concert at the Paragon Casino and some very cool behind the scenes footage. “One Night In The Temple” will be released both as 2 CDs and 1DVD and 2 CDS and 1 Blu-Ray on CME Records / Sony Music in the USA and Canada and on Melodic Rock Records / Cargo Distribution worldwide.
Often regarded as underrated American hard rock gem, they are consummate professionals, balancing song structure & melody with a heavy edge. The most impressive aspect of this enduring group might just be their innate ability to remain relevant while never shunning their vibrant, vintage metal heritage.
Fueled by an unstoppable work ethic and musical vocabulary that spans from face ripping metal to soulful, stratospheric, melodies…the tie that binds this together is their trademark blend of fist raising arena rock.
Lillian Axe’s studio performance is only one piece of the unique puzzle, as their music really explodes in their preferred habitat, the stages of the world. Whether headlining or sharing the bill with national heavyweights such as Alice Cooper, Sammy Hagar, Godsmack or Seether, the boys from the bayou have the presence to make any size stage their own and with their musical muscle to win over any audience within an earshot! When you get down to it, Lillian Axe is a really personal experience, offering a one-on-one connection between the fans and band members. Whether you are watching them in front of 1000 people or 10000 people: The fans are ultimately the most important aspect of the entire cycle.

7:00 pm: Edwin McCain
September 14, 2018
Venue 182 presents, Edwin McCain! Doors open at 7pm and show starts at 8pm. Tickets available online June 5th, 2018. Must be 18 or older to enter.
EDWIN MCCAIN bio:
Called the “great American romantic” by the New York Times, Edwin McCain has built an enviable career over the past 20 years by balancing his massive pop success with the year-round touring schedule of a tireless troubadour. His hit songs, authentic spirit and surprisingly affable sense of humor keep fans coming back time and time again for nights that feel more like parties with old friends than rock concerts. After recording two of the biggest love songs in the history of pop music and experiencing the success that comes with a television show on Animal Planet (Flipping Ships), McCain now performs upwards of 100 shows annually throughout the US as a solo artist, with his full band or his acoustic trio. Recently, he’s added orchestras to his repertoire, performing with symphonies in select markets where he brings his powerful songs to majestic new heights.
“The 15-year-old me would have crawled through a river of fire to be the 48-year-old singer/songwriter that I am today, and I remember that. I am incredibly grateful to be able to do this” McCain said.
Those enduring love songs (and wedding must-haves) “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask For More” aren’t just for the romantic at heart; “American Idol” and “The Voice” contestants turn to Edwin’s ballads every single year to help them win over judges and fans alike (just ask last season’s AI winner, Nick Fradiani). Even Justin Bieber has been known to belt out “I’ll Be” during his own concerts.
2018 marks the 20th year of the success of “I’ll Be,” which topped the Billboard charts in 1998 and has proven to be a timeless classic over the past two decades.

7:00 pm: PARMALEE
September 22, 2018
Venue 182 presents PARMALEE with special guests Kyle Daigle Band. Tickets available online. Doors open at 7pm and show starts at 8:30 pm. Must be 18 or older to enter.
Comprised of brothers Matt and Scott Thomas (lead vocals and drums), cousin Barry Knox (bass) and their best friend Josh McSwain (lead guitar), Parmalee are the quintessential American Country band. Named after the small town where the band started, Parmele, N.C. (population 278), the chart-topping quartet pays to tribute their humble Carolina upbringings with their name and their sound. Raised on a diet of Southern rock, Country, and blues, they formed in 2001 as a bunch of small-town boys chasing wild weekend nights, but their talents eventually took them beyond the little cement block barn they rehearsed in and onto Country music’s biggest stages, not to mention the top of Billboard’s Country chart.
The band’s blue-collar persistence made their 2013 breakout single, “Carolina,” into a Platinum-certified #1 hit, while their debut album landed in the Top 10. Two more singles (“Close Your Eyes” and “Already Callin’ You Mine”) rose to #3 and #10 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, all while they kept their noses to the grindstone, touring hundreds of dates a year. Awards nominations from the Academy of Country Music and Teen Choice Awards came rolling in, and headlining tours were launched but the hard-working virtues of their upbringing stand tall.
The work continued with the release of their most recent album, 27861 in July of 2017. Both singles from the project, “Roots” and “Sunday Morning” enjoyed chart time on Billboard’s Top 40 Country Airplay chart and have seen more than 30 million combined streams on Spotify.
Now, more than ever, Parmalee exudes the rambunctious spirit that built the foundation of their music. The band brings that same fire with them on stage every night, delivering high-energy shows to enthusiastic fans clapping and singing along, wrapped up in rafter-shaking abandon. Eyeing the crowds’ response, one thing is very clear—Parmalee knows a thing or two about having a good time.
Bottling up that vitality and fun for the summer, the band has packed a sixer of some of their most rebel-rousing, party-starting, tracks for their Party Pack. Available digitally (aptly on 4/20), the compilation features two new tracks (“Last Night” and “These Are The Good Days”) that showcase the band’s signature Country-rock sound, defined by blazing guitars and soaring harmonies, live drums and a locked-in musical brotherhood. Each song in the pack was co-written by lead singer, Matt Thomas and pushes forward to the edges of modern Country, bringing in expertly-programmed beats, irresistible pop melodies, and vocal hooks built to grab attention from fans of any genre.
Each of the blood-pumping, high-tempo tracks delivers a rocking good party, but with none of the hangover. The Party Pack takes listeners on a wild rollercoaster of a journey through a weekend complete with epic parties, morning mimosas, day drinkin’ and solving those morning-after mysteries like how a car ended up in the pool.
“We love bringing people together for a good time and we hope they'll clap, sing along, and raise one up— that's what this Party Pack is all about,” Matt says with a grin.
The first top popped in the pack is the bands latest single, “Hotdamalama,” which first appeared on 27861. The track, which Taste of Country says is “built to be the song of the summer,” marks the band’s seventh single, with the previous six all reaching Top 40 in Country radio. The summer-ready scorcher is a fast-paced flirty tribute to a woman so stunning they’ve had to make up new terms for it.
The band is no stranger to a little creative wording. After decades of friendship and endless days spent on a bus together, the four guys nearly have a language of their own. They’ve even begun sharing some of their original vocabulary with fans through a hilarious video series called “Parmalisms,” which shows off their fun-loving nature and routinely leaves their 580,000+ fans in stitches.
“Seeing people smile, laugh and enjoy themselves because of something you’ve done is a great feeling,” said Barry as Scott added, “Sharing that joy and making people have fun makes all those rougher days worth it.”
The road to success wasn’t all flowers for the band, they have come a long way since their modest beginnings, working odd jobs like logging forests, construction, and any other type of manual labor to make ends meet. They’ve also had a few setbacks— in 2010, two men attempted to rob the band at gunpoint after a show, which led to Scott being hospitalized for 35 days, 10 of which he spent in a coma, for multiple gun shot wounds. Despite a five percent chance of survival, he miraculously pulled through and the band went on to secure a record deal just four months later.
No matter the obstacle, the foursome never waivered. Their tenacious work ethic, small-town values and love for each other has allowed them to persevere, grow stronger and rise to where they are today. At heart, they’re still the fun-loving Carolina boys with the same adventurous spirit they left home with on the road to Nashville and beyond.
